October 4

Hey guys, sounds like you guys have had a fun week, and about dad's bday - when was it again?  I am just wondering because firstly: I forgot and secondly: when I was trying to give my insurance info to the local doctor and pharmacy the asked for his bday since he is the card holder.
I also need either a copy of the insurance card or a card because going to a doctors office and only having some of the information doesn't really make it any easier to get through the paperwork and stuff at the doctors office.
That cake sounds great though! BUT DO YOU REALY HAVE TO GO AND SHOW IT OFF LIKE THAT, I mean come on! you know I love carrot cake!!, just messin with ya, but still, I mean really?  oh well, no sense crying bout it now, it is after all a cake.  By the way, I will be working on getting that package I promised you guys sent within the next few weeks.  Sorry for taking so long with that, I will be sending something for don, dad, kristie, mom, clarrisa, and kestra, as well as a few things for everybody else if I can manage it.  Also I am going to need the copay money by at least thursday next week, sorry for being such a leech, but hopefully I will be able to repay you guys in some way after I come back, I am such a loaner guy, in some way or another I end up having to impose on someone else in order to get things done or taken care of.  So thank you mom and dad for putting up with my problems and issues, and so anyway about the whitewash thing, it is a missionary term for pulling both of the missionaries(elders or sisters) who are in one area out, and replacing them with another companionship of elders or sisters, so its like white washing a white board or a white shirt, or something to that effect, you know: starting something off fresh, a new slate, that sort of thing.  That's what I meant when I said we were whitewashed into our area.
I found out recently that if you use dearelder.com they don't just send the emails as letters to the mtc they also send them to the missionary when he or she is out in the field, and so if anyone wants to send me letters but would prefer to type one rather than write it then they can use that site(just a thought).  About Elder Franks: usually its just 3 weeks but depending on the language it could be from 6 weeks to up to 12 weeks, from what I have heard, Spanish speaking missionaries are usually there for either 6 or 9 weeks, so that's all I've got on that stuff and if he's going to the San Diego mission then the only time I would ever see him would be if we have another co-mission conference with the San Diego mission or until he gets home so ya. but I am pretty sure he will do just fine, he was a lot further ahead of me in being prepared to go out when I left than I was and he still had some time left before he got everything set up to go.  I am still glad for all that I did to get ready, without that missionary prep class and seminary (even though I didn't pay as much attention as I should have) I would have never been ready for my mission.
I miss the snow though, but even though I miss it I would rather have it back in Utah where its a dryer climate, cause while it doesn't snow down here the humidity can make it pretty cold out here, so it's not colder that back home just more humid than back home and it makes the cold a quite worse than if it was a dry cold.  we have had some pretty regular rain down here too.  They say the santa annas are happening down south and that we are going to be getting some red tide out here on the coast from all the (dead) plankton washing up on shore.
I got some pretty cool pictures of the sunrise and sunsets the last few days, I'll include a few with this email so you can see, also I mentioned this in my short email last week but I need my line of authority if you can send it to me.  and if you could I would like to get a typed up form of mom's conversion story, and was it grandma and grandpa parker who were converts? or was it their parents? I can't remember, I know you have told us those stories a couple of times but I can't seem to recall them.
and another thing, have you guys tried setting up your own profiles on the mormon.org site? I would certainly recomend that you do, its kind of like facebook but without all the extras and it would give everyone more of a chance to participate in the missionary work a bit more!  also I remembered that talk in general conference by I think it was David A. Bednar who said that the youth should try out the family history site more often, and I feel he is quite right!
so that's my thoughts on that, and also, before I forget, about my email in response to don, if I sounded like I was draging on, I am sorry, I seem to have developed a habit of doing that when I am talking about something that I have a deffinite opinion on, so again sorry, but I do have a bit of advice for you people trying to keep your weight under control, by the way I AM STILL OVER 200 LBS, MAYBE EVEN 250!!! I mentioned to don a device known as the indo board, I am pretty sure you guys have heard about it but anyway, I got to try one out at a members home a little while back and I think it is a great way to work out, and as well as develop your balance, but ya know, no need to go on and on about that(kinda starting to run short on time) thanks for everything.
Love you all, the gospel is the ultimate perfect truth and nothing can compare except the family, but they both go hand in hand so anyway, LATER;-}

Elder Edward C.D. Parker

ps: if I seem to be blabbering, I appologize, I don't mean to.
