Hi guys, my apologies - I meant to let you know that they were our host family, but minor detail.
Anyway, about the Olympics, did you guys record the opening ceremonies? if not I am pretty sure that I can find them online somewhere when I get back but anyway, I have heard that there have been some problems happening with them too, kind of sad huh? Wish Johnny luck from me, wow is he really 19 already? that is so weird..
By the way, I said that it was the teachers quorum! not the elders quorum! Anyway, I have some cool news for ya, just last week we were helping a less active and her nonmember husband clean up some junk that her aunt has hoarded over the years (if you know what a hoarder is then you will understand what I mean when I say she is a bonafide hoarder) and among the stuff was a typewriter, kind of older but in very good working condition. When I asked them about it they asked me if I wanted it and I said if they had no use for it and were not going to do anything with it then I would definitely like to buy it from them. They said that unless anyone wanted it they were just going to either throw it away or put up in the yard sale they were going to put a lot of the stuff that was in good condition (meaning anything that wasn't rotting, molding, falling apart or unrecognizable by any means) and when I said that I wanted to buy it they said,"you can take it, don't worry about paying us for it we don't need it or want it and if you want it, you can go ahead and have it." That was awesome!! Now that may sound kind of odd to you but considering we have limited use of computers out here and my handwriting is not the greatest having a typewriter is a great thing because it helps keep the forms and letters neat and I don't have to worry if anyone is not going to be able to read what I wrote (course I can't use it when writing in my journal but you know0
anyway gotta get going thanks for everything and i will write you next week, love you all
we got two letter this week!! ;)
Hi guys, yah, they are sweet people. Kind of unique in their own way but still great people, and great members. They have 8 kids and lots of former missionaries as friends (as they have had missionaries living at their home for about the past 6 years) so lots of baby blessings, weddings and other things going on allot of the time.
As for my return date, shouldn't that be included in my call packet? but anyway to give you a frame of reference I will be coming home about the second to last week of January next year, and I was under the impression that a tour of the mission was the plan since day one, and wouldn't I be released at least within the week of my coming home anyway? personally I would like to have a few weeks to get settled and other plans and stuff on the role, but I would like to tour the mission with you guys not too long after I get home.
for a little while there you had me thinking that you had plans to do it during spring break, but what ever works out right? of course around the end of march and/or the beginning of April may be about the time that one of the converts I taught may be getting sealed in the temple (not really sure but there is a very good chance that will happen, they were talking about it just before I left the area) but we will see, when ever works best will be best, and what condo? may this be the same one you stayed at when you passed through Carlsbad late last year?
anyway so just some other things and then I will get back to my other email, first: have you seen the movie called "9"? I am pretty sure that is what it is called considering that it has the number 9 in big green glowing print on the cover, and if you have, what is it about? mostly just morbid curiosity but it looked kind of interesting.
second: you have not answered my question as to whether or not you got the email with the video from brother Lester (our previous ward mission leader) and what you thought of it, so did it get to you? and what did you think? (I thought it was pretty funny, kind of silly too).
third: just to answer a question you asked me a couple of emails ago, we do not need to wear our suit coats when we are doing regular proselyting, only for meetings, interviews and similar sircumstances are we expected to wear our suits. I have heard the stories of elders in places like arizona and other spots wearing their suit coats in almost 90 degree weather. yea we got lucky.
and lastly: can you find out when I would need to start getting the paperwork and other stuff done to start my college duties and air force stuff to get started as soon as I can? personaly I think that I may be coming home too late to get in the spring semester but I am not sure, and so if you could do that for me that would be awsome.
anyway thanks for everything, love you all and have a good week, tell everyone hi from me, one last thing, who is the guy that the Speirs's daughter is getting married to?
